Nasal Ballooning

The Nasal Release Technique, or nasal ballooning, is a specialized structural procedure that utilizes small, controlled balloon inflations inside the nasal pathways to gently adjust cranial bones from the inside out. This innovative therapy relieves deep intracranial pressure, instantly expanding restricted airways to alleviate symptoms related to concussions, chronic snoring, sleep apnea, and chronic sinus blockages.

Advanced Cranial Realignment for Concussions, Nasal Airway Restriction, and Snoring

At Rehab and Revive, we look at structural health through a completely integrated lens. For patients struggling with chronic airway blockages, persistent post-concussion symptoms, or deep structural head tension, traditional therapies often fall short. That is why we offer the Nasal Release Technique (also known as Nasal Ballooning or Endonasal Cranial Therapy)—a highly specialized physical therapy modality designed to restore the alignment of your skull bones and open up your deep respiratory pathways.

What is Nasal Release Technique (Nasal Ballooning)?

Many people view the skull as a single, rigid piece of bone, but it actually consists of 22 individual cranial bones joined together by microscopic, slightly flexible joints called sutures. Physical trauma (like a concussion or whiplash), chronic dental imbalances, or poor airway health can cause these bones to become jammed, compressed, or locked out of alignment.

During a Nasal Release session, our skilled physical therapist gently inserts a small, specialized, lubricated balloon into the nasal pathways. The balloon is then precisely and quickly inflated for just a fraction of a second. This brief inflation creates a gentle outward pressure from within the nasal cavity, physically mobilizing the interlocking bones of the face and skull (especially the sphenoid bone) to release deep cranial restrictions and expand the airway.

What Conditions Does Nasal Ballooning Treat?

By physically opening up restricted facial pathways and restoring proper micro-movement to the skull, Nasal Release Therapy is a game-changer for several notoriously stubborn conditions:

  • Concussions & Post-Concussion Syndrome: Head impacts physically compress the skull. Nasal ballooning helps relieve that deep, internal "trapped" pressure, clearing persistent brain fog, tension headaches, and dizziness.

  • Nasal Airway Restriction & Chronic Congestion: If you suffer from a deviated septum, narrow nasal valves, or a constant feeling of stuffiness, this technique physically expands your internal nasal airway, making it instantly easier to breathe through your nose.

  • Snoring & Sleep Apnea: Narrow or collapsed nasal passages force you to mouth-breathe at night, causing airway vibration (snoring). Opening the nasal passages supports proper nocturnal nasal breathing, reducing snoring and improving sleep quality.

  • Sinus Pressure & Chronic Headaches: By restoring the natural alignment of the facial bones, the sinuses are finally able to drain efficiently, providing massive relief from chronic sinus headaches and pressure.

  • TMJ & Jaw Tension: The bones of the nose and palate are mechanically linked to your upper jaw and TMJ. Releasing internal nasal tension often directly decreases chronic jaw clenching and pain.

What to Expect During a Session

Because the balloon is only inflated for a brief moment, the actual release happens very quickly. Most patients describe feeling a brief, intense sensation of pressure behind the nose and face, immediately followed by a profound sense of lightness, mental clarity, and an instantaneous opening of their airways. It is common to take the deepest breath of your life immediately after the procedure.
